Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • The EU NDC covers the agricultural sector and the EU has adopted legislation to enforce the Paris Agreement's objectives to reduce emissions associated with land use.
  • Under Regulation 2018/841 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 May 2018 on the inclusion of greenhouse gas emissions and removals from land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF), thus sets a binding commitment for each Member State to ensure that accounted emissions from land use are, at a minimum, compensated by an equivalent accounted removal of CO? from the atmosphere.
