Strengths & Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Requires fisheries to disclose method of production on fresh fish sold to consumers, in particular by using the following words: "caught" or "caught in freshwater" or "farmed".
  • Applies to all shell eggs sold in the EU, including imported shell eggs form non-EU countries.

Weaknesses

  • The rule only applies to shell eggs and therefore excludes egg products in prepared food.
